Dengelo
would like to invite you to
see different parts of Sri Lanka during your holiday. The excursions
set out below will take you to interesting parts of the island and
introduce you to its culture. Dengelo has carefully chosen the tours
to compliment your holiday. |

Pinnawella
Sri Lanka is known for its
elephants and at Pinnawella is the elephant orphanage. The excursion
will take you to Pinnawella arriving in time for lunch at a nearby
hotel. After lunch you will go to the orphanage to see the elephants
being fed. Afterwards you will go down to the river to watch the
elephants being bathed.
(This tour is not
recommended from the southern beach hotels because of the travelling

Kandy
Kandy was one of the
capital cities of Sri Lanka set in the mountains. During this
excursion you will visit Kandy's famous botanical garden where you will
enjoy lunch. After lunch you can stroll round the town and then
visit the Temple of the Tooth next to Kandy's lake.
This tour can be extended
by one night to allow you to enjoy the traditional Kandyean dancing
followed by dinner at your chosen Hotel.

Colombo
This is Sri Lanka's capital
city. During the day you will see the historic Fort area, visit the
National Museum, shop at the craft shops and have a tour of the
city. We will also take you to the Galle Face Hotel one of Sri
Lanka's oldest hotels and enjoy afternoon tea before returning to your
hotel. |

Galle
This is a historic fort
established in the 16th century, Walk on the walls of the fort and
stroll through its narrow streets. Visit the Historic Mansion where
you will see examples of lace making and polishing gem stones. On
the return trip to your hotel, you will stop at a Turtle Hatchery to see
the efforts being taken to protect Sri Lanka's turtles.

Nights at Habarana
You
will travel to Habarana stopping off at Dambulla Caves on the first day
arriving in time for a swim and to enjoy Habarana's grounds.
On
the second day you will visit the historic sites of Polonnaruwa, a world
heritage site, and Sigiriya, a hill top palace.
On
the third day you will visit Anuradapura, the first capital of Sri
Lanka. See the oldest tree in the world that was planted in
300BC. After this visit you will return to your hotel.

Hill
Country Excursion
1
Night at Kandy and 1 night at Nurwara Eliya
On
the first day travel to Kandy where you can tour the town, visit the
famous Botanical Garden and the Temple of the Tooth. Before dinner
you will be taken to see the Kandyan dancers.
On
the second day you will travel from Kandy to the town of Nuwara Eliya at
6,000 feet. You will be travelling on roads that were created by the
British to get access to the tea plantations. During the day you
will stop at a Tea Factory to see hoe tea is produced and have lunch at
Ramboda Falls to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
On
the third day you will return to your hotel through the tea
plantations. You will stop at a tea centre to enjoy the scenery and
Devon Falls. Another stop will be at the location of the film Bridge
Over the River Kwai where you can enjoy your lunch. |
